Hi, today I will talk about an article on visual arts, especially in the area that I like the most: photograpy. Last Tuesday I was checking my Facebook, I like to follow news pages like emol, BioBio, Defensa Animal, and others which keep me informing what´s happening in the country and in the world, and in emol I saw the death of patricio Guzman, a chilean photographer.

Patricio Guzman focused his job on social photography, especially during the 50s to the 70s in ours country and furthermore between 1964 and 1967 he worked at the photography lab at Universidad de Chile. As photographer, some of his most famous Works were songwriter Victor Jara´s portrait, whose most emblematic images were done by the aforementioned photographer.

I really like this photographer because his job has a historical meaning for Chile during the 60s. His contribution to provide evidence to the difficult condition the country liven in. I wanted to share this article with you because few people know about his contriburion to chilean visual arts, since his work is very famous abroad and he know how to show the country during a period of fear and silence by the changes that were happening in a beautiful and emotional manner.

Gabriel García Márquez

Hello everyone, I would like to talk to you about one of my favourite writers, his name is Gabriel Garcia Marquez. He was a colombian writer and one of the greatest representation of magical realism.

I like this writer because he is a latin american, and because his profound description of all the characters that makes the readers become interested in them and creates certain empathy towards them. In addition, it’s very interesting to see all the characters being living in a world mixture of realistic and fantastic elements.

The books that I like the most from this author are: El coronel no tiene quien le escriba, it’s sad story about a colonel who, after wartime, waited for his expected retirement, as well as a letter from his son who was supposedly dead.

Cien años de soledad, one of his most famous works; and one of my favourite books, crónicas de una muerte anunciada, a story that keeps us excited from the start, expecting someone could prevent Santiago Nazar’s death even though we know he would die from the beginning of the book.

Gabriel Garcia Marquez died on the 14th of April of this year, the world mourns for his death, even though there will be no more publication from him, he will still be one of my favourite writers.

The artist that I admire.

The artist that I admire is Sergio Larraín, because I adore the photography and he is one of the photographer more important in our country, but it wasn’t always this way because he was stranger for many years here. His father is a famous modernist architect.

Sergio Larraín photography studied in Míchigan University, he come back to Chile in 1951, his first exhibition was in Santiago in 1953 and his first book “El rectángulo en la mano” was published in 1963 and it´s very coveted.

His photography are filling of emotions, beauty, frankness and close because I think that he is a very creative person and for this he can manage it. I like that they are in white and black because it is more impressive.

His photography are in many museums in many countries like New York, Frances, Brazil and Chile of course!

The most important for me is that he lived in Ovalle from 70’s and he died there in 2012. Ovalle is a place where I live and I really like.
